It has a church, chapel, pub, two shops, village hall & lots of amenities for its population of approximately 650 people. The village is famous for its strawberries and other soft fruits.

WHEATLEY—EMERGENCY PLAN
The Parish Council are in the process of updating the Parish Emergency Plan.
We desperately need to know what skills/resources etc. that residents would be willing to offer in the event of serious emergency. e.g. major traffic accident,
adverse weather conditions, electricity failure, major gas leaks; flooding.
This would be to help with evacuation, looking after vulnerable people ( senior, infirm and very young); emergency feeding etc. This would be in addition to the work of the emergency services which are automatically deployed.
Please contact Judith Goacher tel.01427 880562,
e-mail judithgoacher@yahoo.co.uk or any member of the Parish Council with following details:-
Name Address Contact no. Skill Resource
(e.g nurse, plumber) (e.g forklift; Aga;shelter)
Please do not be afraid to offer—all volunteers and ideas are very welcome.
We hope we are never needed but we must be prepared.
